(29/04-2015) – Most of us know earworms: those annoying tunes that keep on re-playing in never ending loops in our heads. This can be terribly annoying (especially since these are not even songs we like).
Well, a team of scientists at the University of Reading, UK might have found the cure. They have published the result of their study in the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology (Taylor & Francis). The results of the research show the best way to block obsessive melodies is neither to read a good novel nor solve complex anagrams but, simply, to chew gum.
Earworms are experienced by over 99% of individuals (J. Kellaris) and they are often source of great stress for many.
(01/04-2015) – Have you ever noticed anyone in your life that has a sunny disposition, all the time? Have you also noticed that this individual seems to sail through life, as well? Well, perhaps the right mind set is the key to real and lasting happiness.
At the end of the day, no matter what happens, we have the power to choose our thoughts about that event. Developing the right mind set will help you reach your goals.
Just like anything else in life that is worth having, developing the right mind set has a little bit of work involved. However, this work is not too painful. It really is a matter of training your brain and resetting it to a program you want to replay over and over again.
You must make an effort everyday to listen to how many times the voice of negativity comes to visit. When you hear that voice of negativity that wants to sabotage your success, keep you safe, and makes you fearful, you must work hard to deflate it.
Give that voice of negativity to set in, look deeply into that thought and see if there is anything useful in it for you. For example, if you are feeling fearful about a new endeavor, listen deeply and see if there is any validity to that fear. If not, then chalk it up to self-sabotaging talk and move forward.
(25/02-2015) – If you think about the word commitment, what comes up for you? Does it sound like a chore or a burden, or perhaps something that you have to do instead of want to do? Well committing to positive actions is different and not like that at all.
When you commit yourself to positive actions, guess what. You gain all the benefits and reap all the rewards. Committing yourself to positive action means committing to your authentic self.
Although commitment may sound like a bad word, when it comes to committing yourself to positive actions, there are a few steps you can take to make it easier.
(12/02-2015) – Have you ever noticed someone, for example in the world of business, who just seems to have everything? Moreover, have you noticed how he or she seems to get everything with such an ease and a grace that you have to admit you are little bit envious?
Those individuals are probably the ones who use the law of attraction everyday and use it to maximize success. If you think that these individuals sit back and let things come to them, rather than chase things, you are probably correct in that assumption. What you do not know or see, however, is that those very same individuals are most likely to use the law of attraction on a daily basis.
Successful individuals know a few things more than the average person about the law of attraction does. Sometimes when you want something so badly and you pursue overzealously, it runs away from you rather than toward you.
Successful people know that once they are clear about their intention, set it, visualize upon it, then the only next logical step is to wait for it to come.
Most every individual you ask has clear and specific dreams and goals; however, we all want it now. Successful people know to wait for their desired outcome and are that confident that it will arrive.
(04/022015) – The fear of public speaking is as common to man as the sun is as common during the day and do not fear, almost everyone goes through the same process day in and day out, but just to be sure, here are some ten important steps to overcome the fear of public speaking.
Stage fright itself is a common factor affecting almost every public speaker, especially when going through the process for the first few times.
Eventually as time goes by and several speeches later, the fear and stage fright just comes to pass like the smoke in the wind.
Here are some of the most common and effective means to overcome your fear of public speaking.
(02/02-2015) – Performance fear or performance anxiety takes on different forms. However, it is associated with the growing wareness and the need to perform according to the standard of your own field of activity, whether in the workplace, or an upcoming presentation, or for a sports activity. With the pressure to perform one’s best, there is always this preconditioned mindset for the person suffering from performance fear that anything could go wrong that will eventually impact your performance and reduce it to failure.
Studies are still ongoing to determine exactly the cause of this fear but it is closely tied up to one’s desire to do better at something. However, you need to understand that experiencing performance fear is completely normal. But some often have unrealistic fear or misconception about given situations that impair their logical decision making capacities and end up in your not performing up to standard.
(22/01-2015) – In public speaking, fear maybe viewed as negative leading to ineffective communication. This is the tendency if you predict bad situations. Fear can be easily seen through physical manifestations: hands cold and clammy, rumbling speech, slouching and unwanted movements.
In public speaking, fear comes from the fear of the unknown.î Most people are afraid of not being liked, offending someone, forgetting everything, of stumbling and falling or ruining the effort.
But fear can be seen in a positive aspect as well. According to Kenneth McFarland, ìit is not necessary to banish fear in order to gain confidence. A wholesome fear of failure is one of the best guarantees of success.î
Fear can be a motivating force for the public speaker that adds strength, energy and conviction to otherwise lifeless ideas. Your courage is the ability to see fear in a realistic perspective. The way to curb your fear is to prepare thoroughly. But fear cannot be eliminated fully. It is meant to be conquered.
(14/01-2015) – Fear of failure is common for obvious reasons. People want success and yet only those who are brave enough to confront this type of fear are the ones able to rise above their fears and achieve whatever goals they have set for themselves. For those who were overcome with this fear, then they are prevented from realizing their potential.
The most destructive element entailed with the fear of failure is one’s inability to take criticism or feedback well. Instead, they tend to magnify the mistakes they have created along the way until it overtakes their mind such that it is difficult to get rid of them. There are also instances wherein the fear of failure is so immense that people tend to limit themselves to the point of not trying for fear of failing.
Why must fear of failure be given attention on, you might ask. Unless you are able to let go of the fear of failure, then you are unable to achieve your desired result. Oftentimes, fear of failure produces negative thoughts that reduce your actual potential. You think you are incapable of achieving something when it fact you can.
Once you are brave enough to do something about this fear, then you are able to provide yourself more freedom to do what you need to do and succeed at it. Here are some basic methods you can try.
(11/11-2014) -Procrastination if left unchecked can turn into a bad habit, which could eventually be very hard to break. Most people don’t seem to realize that the habit of procrastination can cost them a lot of negativity; therefore one should take the trouble to identify and eradicate this element.
The following are some of the more popular reasons why most people have lapsed into the procrastination habit:
The famous “I don’t know” excuse – this is one of the most popular excuses given when an individual is not really interested in getting a particular task done. By feigning this lack of knowledge the individual is probably able to keep from having to complete a certain task and with the added hopeful outcome of not being asked to do it in the future.
I don’t know enough about this – we now go into the idea that you are not knowledgeable enough, intelligent enough, clever enough… In short: Not good enough go do what you have to do or need to do. So that means that you will have to either go in therapy, or get more knowledge, get more information on the subject before doing anything. Therefore, it is not “procrastination” but a delay needed to get more knowledge. The good thing about this excuse is that you will in fact never have information enough or knowledge enough to be able to get there.
(28/10-2014) – Fear is what holds us back. The truth is anyone and I mean anyone can make money through building a home business. Why do most people fail? Well one they quit and two they let their fear hold them back. I have seen fear hold many people back and stop them from reaching their dreams. Fear takes dreams and squashes them. Fear is the reason many people will never reach their goals in life. Fear is pretty much what will get in the way of what you want to accomplish out of life.
The great thing is any fear can be overcome with repeated acts of courage. If something frightens you, learn about it. Try it and you will begin to see your fear disappear. The mind is a very powerful thing and fear is located all in your mind. If you do not control your fears your fears will control you. And living afraid is no way to live. But let’s focus on fear and your home business.
There are many different types of fears when starting your home business but the two I see most are the fear of rejection and the fear of failure. These are the two types of fear we will cover in this article.
